How to Use Milk as a Fungicide and Save Your Plants from Destruction?

When you have a fruit and vegetable garden you may want to use greenhouse tools on your plants to prevent them getting affected by a variety of germs and fungus that interfere heavily with their normal growth. Fungus attack is vicious and all pervasive and leads to the complete destruction of the plant. Though there are many chemical based fungicides available in the market, the good news for those who do not want to use them is that milk can be used as an effective fungicide. Though the studies have not been able to prove how milk is able to get rid of the fungus it is mostly believed by the researchers that the potassium phosphate in the milk is able to give the required boost to the immune system of the affected plants so that they are able to fight the spreading fungus and get rid of it in a natural way.
As way of carrying your organic gardening, you can go for the milk as a fungicide rather than using solutions of baking soda, soap and oil. When you find that your plants are affected by fungus you have to use the right garden handtools like pruners to remove the heavily infested leaves and branches before spraying milk on the plants. The success of this depends on the right concentration of the milk solution and following the right schedule for doing the spraying work.  Best results are possible if you use the greenhouse tools that help in applying the milk solution to each part of the affected plant.
The strength of the Milk solution and the frequency of application have to be decided as per the type of the plant, its age and the extent of fungal infection. It is very important that you must use good loppers to remove all the leaves and branches that are heavily infected before you start spraying the milk solution.  You can use the milk as it is or that is diluted up to 1:9 parts depending on the type of infection and you may have to repeat the spraying up to 3 or 4 days to see the results.
Though all types of milk work well as a fungicide the skimmed milk seems to be the best when compared to the whole milk. The reconstituted powdered milk is also good and can be used as a good fungicide. This milk fungicide is very effective in controlling the fungal attacks of powdery mildew in Squash plants, and almost all types of flowery and fruit bearing plants like the Rudebekia, Begonias etc. It is used on Cyclamen houseplant to cure Botrytis after using your pruners to remove all the rotten leaves.
Yet another good use of Milk as a fungicide comes in the curing of black spots and leaf rust in rose plants. By using the right loppers for removing the excessively damaged leaves and using the right gardening hand tools, it is possible to get the best results in your fight against fungus in your plants.  Thus the milk has become one of the green house tools to combat all types of fungal infections and make your plants healthier and more productive.
